Introduction to Service Desk and your equipment

Kit for new starters

We currently offer the following as the base kit for every new start:

  • Laptop & charger
  • Headset
  • Laptop bag
  • Wireless keyboard & mouse
  • USB adapter (USB-C to 3xUSB, 1xHDMI, 1xEthernet)
  • iPhone & SIM (This is strictly for Sales Managers & Senior Management team only).

Your equipment

Upon offer acceptance and confirmation of a start date, the Incremental Service Desk will call you to check in and to make the initial part of your onboarding experience, hassle free.

We will explain the equipment available to you & what items from the above list you need.

Once a suitable time for delivery has been agreed, a courier will deliver your kit to your chosen address, or this will be set up for you at our office, should you be office based.

Your laptop will be setup with your user profile & has the base level of Microsoft Office 365 apps installed. This means as soon as the laptop is unboxed it is ready to use immediately.

On commencement of your start date, Service Desk will arrange a Teams meeting to run through any queries or problems.

At this point, you will get a tour of the general functions of your laptop if required & an overview of the process should you need to contact the helpdesk to create a ticket for assistance thereafter.

Our Incremental Service Desk team

Michael Porter - Principal Support Engineer

As Principal Support Engineer Michael is main point of internal support for all Incrementalists in the Glasgow, Inverurie & Manchester offices. Support includes but not limited to infrastructure Windows server & desktop, on-premises & cloud, M365, & other third-party apps. After interview Michael is usually the first person new starts meet through the onboarding process.

Michael works out the Glasgow office, but is an Ayrshire boy at heart. He used to own an award-winning restaurant in Glasgow’s west end, but he’s a hopeless cook – seriously. He also previously worked in a themed bar in Disney World, Orlando, dressed in full costume – think of Gaston’s outfit in Beauty & the Beast. All his time now is spent running after his 4 daughters – Charlotte, Laurie, Lois & Tara –  taking them to & from all sorts of clubs, dancing, swimming etc. His party days are sadly over, but he does like the odd beer or wee cheeky port binge watching Netlix.

Richard McEwan - Senior Support Engineer

Richard is part of the internal support team whose main focus is supporting all Incrementalists with any hardware, software or general IT issues they might encounter as well as keeping all the Glasgow office equipment up and running.

Richard recently moved into a new flat with his partner Ailsa, dog Maisie and cat Belle. Richard enjoys playing golf in his spare time (not very good at it) and also enjoys football. He is a supporter of Rangers Football Club and tries to get to Ibrox as much as he can. In his spare time he enjoys cooking and playing his playstation!
